Black Sand Pizzeria and Bistro is nestled on the popular surf beach in Oakura, Taranaki, New Zealand. We proudly serve Authenticated Neapolitan Pizza combined with a fresh, seasonal and modern bistro menu in a welcoming neighbourhood vibe, ON THE BEACH!
Flour, water, salt, yeast, time, and tradition are at the heart of everything we do. Combined with carefully selected ingredients and cooked at high temperatures in our wood-fired oven, our pizzas emerge soft, light, and beautifully airy. For the true Neapolitan experience, enjoy your pizza hot and folded.
Our wine list showcases predominantly organic and natural wines, with a focus on small producers from New Zealand and Australia. And when it comes to beer, we're proud to pour local.
Bookings are highly recommended, especially during the summer months. Please check your spam or junk folder for your booking confirmation email, as it can occasionally end up there.
We're a small but mighty restaurant. For groups of 11 or more, please visit our Functions page or email blacksandpizza@gmail.com for information about larger bookings.
While we'll always do our best to accommodate seating requests, we cannot guarantee specific tables, including window seating.

We do offer a slightly reduced takeaway menu. Please find the takeaway menu at the top of the webpage.
Call from 5pm for your takeaway order. Please note for large takeaway orders (10+) please email blacksandpizza@gmail.com ahead of time to arrange a pre order and and collection time with our team.
Gluten-friendly pizzas are currently available on Sundays only. Due to the specialised flour required for our high-temperature oven, these pizzas are priced differently from our regular menu. As numbers are limited, please mention your gluten-friendly pizza request when making your booking so we can reserve one for you. They sell out fast!
